Campaign Fee Structure
Understanding your event's fee structure helps with effective planning and budgeting. This overview covers how fees are applied and highlights options for sharing or shifting costs—such as allowing donors to help cover fees.
- Navigate to Event Dashboard > Edit Event
- Select Funding
- Scroll down to the Campaign Fee Settings to configure the event's fee settings
Payment Processing Fee
All online payments made by credit card or ACH incur payment processing fees. As the organization, you can decide whether to absorb these fees or pass them on to donors—either as an optional choice or a required charge.

My organization will pay the payment processing fee: Your organization is responsible for covering payment processing fees for all online transactions. Donations will display the full payment amount for the donor, and the fees will be deducted from the gross payment amount.

Ask donors to pay the payment processing fee:

Make it Optional: Donors are opted-in to cover the payment processing fee and the donor may choose to opt-out.

Make it Mandatory: Donors are required to cover the payment processing fee and will not have the option to opt-out.

Platform Fee
Note: The platform fee varies based on your BetterUnite subscription. As the organization, you can decide whether to absorb this fee or pass them on to donors.-
Ask donor to have the option to pay the platform fee:
- Donors are default opted-in to pay the BetterUnite fee and may choose to opt-out.
- Donor fees set to zero by default. Donor will need to opt-in to cover fees
- My organization will pay the platform fee instead of my donors: Your organization is responsible for covering platform fees for all online transactions. Donations will display the full payment amount for the donor, and the fees will be deducted from the gross payment amount.
