Campaign Fee Structure

Understanding the fee structure for your fundraising campaigns is essential for effective budgeting and planning. In this article, we will outline the various fees associated with using BetterUnite, including platform fees and payment processing fees.
  • On your Edit Event page, select Funding.

  • Scroll down to Campaign Fee Settings.

  •  My organization will pay the payment processing fees: Your organization will pay the payment processing fees. While donations will display the full donation amount for the donor, the payment processing fees will be taken out of the gross payment amount. 

  • Ask donors to pay the payment processing fees: Donors will be presented with either the option to cover the payment processing fee OR your organization can make it mandatory for donors to cover this fee. This will depend on which sub-option you choose under this selection, as shown above.

  • Once you have made your selections for payment processing fees, click Save Changes.

  • You can also modify the Platform Fees.

  • Ask donor to have the option to pay the platform fee: This is the default and recommended option. The donors will have the opportunity to give BetterUnite an amount over and above their donation to you. BetterUnite fee will default to a 5% amount, with $20 maximum. The donor/purchaser can lower the amount to 50c, $1.00, or $5.00, depending on the total. If the option to zero out is enabled below, the donor can zero-out the fee, in which case the org will pay a 2% fee. For recurring payments and membership payments, this fee is 50 cents, $1.00, or $1.50, depending on the total. For in-event purchases with a registered card, like auction, fund-a-need, event items for sale, the fee is 2% and it can be opted-in to be covered by the guest.

  • My organization will pay the platform fee instead of my donors: The donors will not have the option to give to BetterUnite. Instead, my organization will take on the BetterUnite fee. Since we can't ask the donor for a contribution in this case, service fees per transaction is calaculated at varying levels based on the amount at 2%, with a 50 cent minimum. For recurring payments and membership payments, this fee is 50 cents, $1.00, or $1.50, depending on the total. For in-event purchases with a registered card, like auction, fund-a-need, event items for sale, the fee is 2% and it can be opted-in to be covered by the guest. 
  • Once you have made your selection, Save Changes.
