Cross-module workflow recipes
Recipes are ready-made workflows that start in one part of BetterUnite and move the supporter into another: a guest who could become a member, a volunteer who has never given, a lapsed member walking in the door. Each recipe is created as a draft for you to review and turn on.
Create a workflow from a recipe
- Go to Workflows and open the templates panel.
- Choose Cross-module Recipes.
- Click Use this recipe on the one you want. The workflow opens in the builder as a draft.
- Follow the recipe's "Before you turn it on" note: add your links, adjust the wording, assign tasks.
- Activate the workflow.
Better.AI cards also offer recipes. When a card has an Automate this link, clicking it creates that recipe's draft and opens it, so the next case like it is handled for you.
The recipes

Where a recipe has a condition ("if they are not a current member"), a supporter who does not meet it leaves the workflow at that step. Nothing more is sent to them.
New triggers
Two new triggers are available in the workflow builder for any workflow, not only recipes:
Event: Guest checked in
Runs when a guest is checked in, from the check-in app, the guest list or a bulk status change. It runs once per guest, so checking someone out and back in does not run it again. You can limit it to certain events.
Auction: Item won
Runs when an item is awarded to its winner or bought outright. You can limit it to certain auctions or items, or to winning bids over an amount.
If a check-in or an award is undone before the workflow picks it up, the workflow does not run.
Merge tags in recipe messages
Workflow emails and texts fill in , and . Task titles are not merged, so recipe tasks describe the situation, and the task is attached to the supporter's record.
