Email Contact and Group Import

Import contactsTo import contacts into BetterUnite, navigate to Contacts and Donor Management, click Actions then Upload from a File, upload a CSV file, map your columns to contact record fields, and click Import. Follow the steps below for a full walkthrough.

• Click Contacts > Contacts & Donor Management at the top of the screen. 

• Once you are on the Contacts page, click Actions>Upload from a File.

• This opens the Import Contacts page, where you can download a CSV template, upload your file, and configure duplicate-handling options.

• If you don't already have a CSV file prepared, you can use the template provided here.

• If you already have your file prepared, drag your file into the square shown below or click on the Browse option to upload your file. Note: You do not need to include every field. You can upload only the columns you need — for example, email address, group, or tags. 
• Before uploading, review the duplicate-handling instructions on the upload page to make sure existing contacts are updated correctly.

• Below is an example of a CSV file used to import contacts.
• In this example, three contacts are to be uploaded.

• In the pop-up window, use the drop-down lists to map your CSV columns to the corresponding fields in BetterUnite contact records. 
• Regardless of what your CSV column is titled, you can map it to any contact record field. Using the provided template makes mapping easier because the column names match automatically. 

• Once the CSV file that you prepared is uploaded, review the data and click Import.

• On the confirmation page shown below, you can see the contacts that are imported. This section also shows whether a contact was created new or updated.
• An updated contact means it matched a contact already in the system.

• Once the Contacts are imported, you can see them on the Contacts page, as shown below.
