Event Check-In Options and On-Site Support

What event services and check-in options are available?

BetterUnite provides an integrated event check-in system for registration staff, and the mobile app supports card registration, a shop-front/POS, and quick ways to add items to a guest cart. On-site staffing services are also available with direct technical support access.

How does event check-in work?

Event check-in can be handled by staff at a check-in station using a laptop, tablet, or app. A typical check-in flow includes:

  1. Search for the guest’s name at the check-in station.
  2. Open the guest’s check-in screen.
  3. Confirm or update the guest’s phone number.
  4. Send the guest a text with their unique guest experience link.
  5. Assign or confirm a bidder number, if needed.
  6. Press the check-in button.
  7. Hand out any event materials, such as paddle numbers or table information.
Can guests check themselves in from their phone?

Guests can use the link sent by text to complete steps such as card pre-authorization and access event details from their phone. Staff still initiate the check-in process at the event.

Can check-in be used without collecting credit card information?

Yes. Check-in setup can be used without collecting credit card information, and in-person check-in can be used without pre-authorization. Guests can also be checked in without requiring any credit card or payment information.

What can be done at check-in?

At check-in, guests may be offered options such as:

  • Purchasing contest cards
  • Purchasing mulligans
  • Paying cash for those items
  • Using guest experience link features

Offering these options at check-in can make it easier to increase sales for guests who would not otherwise engage with them online.

What should organizers know about event messaging?

When event messaging is enabled, the system can automatically send texts for:

  • Ticket purchases
  • Guest check-ins
  • Auction bid acknowledgments
  • Outbid notifications

If basic messaging is active, guests who register or purchase tickets and provide a phone number will automatically receive a text when they complete their registration or purchase.

What about performance and support during check-in?

Onsite staffing services are available with direct technical support access. There is no SLA for check-in or mobile app performance, and event conditions such as Wi-Fi and related on-site factors can affect performance. For smoother check-in, teams are encouraged to prepare through check-in training and consider event support options if needed.
