Event Day Kiosk

The Event Day Kiosk is a simplified menu for running your event on the day. It lists only the tools your event uses, so your team can move between check-in, carts, the auction, and screens without hunting through the full event dashboard. It works well on a laptop or an iPad at the check-in table, the cashier station, or the AV booth.

Beta: The Event Day Kiosk is in beta. Everything in it uses your event's real data, the same as the full dashboard. If something does not look right, contact support and let us know.

Not the same as volunteer Kiosk Mode. Volunteer Kiosk Mode is the self-service check-in screen for volunteer campaigns. To learn about that feature, see Setting Up Kiosk Mode for On-Site Check-in.

Open the Event Day Kiosk

  1. Open your event's dashboard.
  2. Under the event name, click Event Day Kiosk (it has a BETA label).
  3. The kiosk opens on the first section in its menu.

The link is only on event campaigns. Donation pages, peer-to-peer campaigns and child campaigns do not have a kiosk.

To return to the full dashboard, click Back to full dashboard at the bottom of the kiosk menu.

Find your way around

  • Menu: The dark menu on the left shows your event's name and date, then a list of sections. Click a section to open it.
  • Tabs: Some sections have more than one page. Those pages appear as tabs across the top bar. For example, Communications has Messages, Scrolling Banner and Guest CTAs.
  • Hide menu: On a laptop, click Hide menu in the top bar to give the page the full width. Click Show menu to bring it back. The device remembers your choice.
  • On an iPad: When the screen is too narrow for the menu, tap Menu in the top bar to open it.
  • Clock: The current time shows at the right of the top bar.

Most sections are the same pages you already use from the full dashboard, so they work the same way. A few pages leave out bulk tools in the kiosk. For example, Carts does not show Bulk Checkout, Bulk Add Charges or the Bulk Actions menu. Use the full dashboard for those.

What is in the menu

A section appears only when your event uses it, your plan includes it, and your login has access to it. For example, Tables appears only once the event has tables. Sections you cannot use are left out of the menu entirely, not grayed out.

Section What it opens Shows when
Check-in Guest check-in and guest lookup Always
Tables Table seating The event has tables
Teams Teams The event has teams
Quick Add Quick Add, for adding paddle raise gifts and other charges to guest carts Always
Carts Guest carts and checkout Always
Auction The kiosk's auction panel (see below) The event has auction items
POS Store Walk-up sales (see below) The event has items set to show in the store
Communications Messages, Scrolling Banner and Guest CTAs Always
Event Day Stats Live event insights Always
Random Drawing The random drawing tool The event sells raffle tickets
Thermometer Thermometer links for the big screen (see below) The event has a thermometer
Presentations Screen links and slide controls (see below) The event has a presentation
Volunteers Event Staff, and Volunteer Sign-ups when a volunteer page is linked to the event Always

Who can use each section

The kiosk uses the event permissions you already give your users. Users with Full Access see every section the event uses. For a user with Custom Access, each section needs these privileges on the event, set under Advanced Campaign Privileges. See Add Users for the steps.

Section Privileges needed
Check-in Guest Check-in
Quick Add, Carts, POS Store Read and Manage Carts
Auction Read and Manage Auction
Tables, Teams, Communications, Random Drawing Read and Edit
Event Day Stats, Thermometer, Presentations Read
Volunteers Full Access only

This lets you give each person exactly what their station needs. A check-in volunteer with only Guest Check-in sees just the Check-in section. A cashier with Read and Manage Carts sees Quick Add, Carts and POS Store.

If a user opens the kiosk and none of its sections are available to them, they see Nothing to show here yet. Give them access to check-in, carts or the auction for the event, then have them open the kiosk again.

Customize the menu for your event

Users who can edit the event can reorder the menu and hide sections they will not need on the day.

  1. At the bottom of the kiosk menu, click Customize menu.
  2. Turn a section's switch off to hide it, or on to show it.
  3. Use the up and down arrows to change the order.
  4. Click Save menu, or Cancel to discard your changes.

The menu is saved for the event, so it changes for everyone using the kiosk at this event. The first section in the menu is where people land when they open the kiosk, so put your busiest station first. Hiding a section only removes it from the menu. It does not change anyone's permissions.

Auction

The Auction section is a day-of panel for the auction. If the event has more than one auction, pick one from the list at the top. Click Manage Auction at any time for the full auction page, including Bulk Award.

End or extend the auction

The Closes at card shows the close time, the time zone, and how many open items have bids. Users who can edit the event also see:

  • Extend: Choose a new end date and time, then click Save end time.
  • End auction: Shows while the auction is live. Bidding stops on every item and guests see the auction as closed. Leave Award winners automatically checked to award each item with a bid to its high bidder within a few minutes and notify the winners. Uncheck it to award items yourself on Manage Auction. To close later instead, choose Schedule an end time instead.

Auto-extend

If your plan includes auto-extend, users who can edit the event can turn on Extend an item when a bid lands near its close, enter the minutes to add (1 to 60), and click Save auto-extend.

Register bidders

Click Register bidder to sign up someone without a ticket who wants to bid tonight. It opens in a new tab. Users who can edit the event can also turn Allow bidders without a ticket purchase on or off.

Feature items with no bids

The Items with no bids list helps you draw attention to items nobody has bid on yet. Check the items, then click Feature selected or Stop featuring. Items that already have bids are not listed.

Bid Assist

Use Bid Assist to place a bid for a guest, for example someone without a phone.

  1. Choose the item. The panel shows its high bid, increment and minimum bid.
  2. Search for the guest by bidder number, name or email, and pick them from the results.
  3. The amount fills in at the lowest bid allowed. You can raise it.
  4. Click Place bid.

The guest gets the usual bid confirmation text. Bid Assist works only while the auction is live.

POS Store

The POS Store is for walk-up sales at the event, such as wine pulls, raffle tickets or merchandise. It sells the items you set to show in the store on Edit Event > POS / Storefront. Staff can sell from it but cannot change the items. Each item shows how many are left, and sold-out items cannot be picked.

  1. Tap an item, then set the quantity.
  2. Search for the guest by bidder number, name or email. The guest must already be on your guest list.
  3. Choose how they will pay:
    • Card on file: Charges the guest's saved card now.
    • Add to cart: Adds the item to the guest's cart, to pay at checkout.
    • New card: Saves a new card to the guest, then charges it.
  4. Click the button at the bottom, which shows the total, for example Charge $40.00.

If your event's payment processor is not Stripe, add new cards from the Carts page first, then charge them from the POS Store.

Thermometer

The Thermometer section lists the event's thermometers. Click View to open one on the big screen, or Copy link to send it to your AV team. Users who can edit the event also see Edit.

Presentations

The Presentations section lets your team change what is on the screens during the program. Each presentation shows its screen link to copy or open, the slide showing now, and a Show now button on every other slide. If the event has an auction, auction showcase links are listed here too. For everything this section can do, and who can do it, see Event Presentations for AV team.

Volunteers

The Volunteers section is for users with Full Access. It has two tabs:

  • Event Staff: See and add the logins your event staff use, the same as on the event dashboard. New event staff get an invitation email.
  • Volunteer Sign-ups: Shows when a volunteer sign-up page is linked to the event. It lists everyone signed up, grouped by shift, with their job, mobile number, and whether they are checked in. Use Find a volunteer to search. This list is read only. Volunteers check in from the volunteer page's own tools.

Frequently asked questions

Does the kiosk change any of my event's data or settings?

No. The kiosk is a different way to reach the tools you already have. Check-ins, sales, bids and every other change land in the same records as they do from the full dashboard.

Why is a section missing from my menu?

One of three things: the event does not use that feature yet, your plan does not include it, or your login does not have the privilege it needs. A user who can edit the event may also have hidden it with Customize menu.

Can I have the kiosk open on several devices at once?

Yes. Each person signs in with their own login, and each device can be on a different section. Use separate logins so the check-in and sales activity shows who did what.
