Fair Market Value
You can assign Fair Market Value, to every ticket or giving level. This amount is used in the calculation of the tax deductible amount for a purchase. If you provide a FMV value for an item, the tax deductible amount on the donation is calculated using this amount. This amount can be overridden on the purchase transaction later on, the FMV simply allows calculating and defaulting this amount. The tax deductible amount is also included in transaction exports. If an FMV is provided, the confirmation page and the confirmation email to the donor will also include the Tax Deductible amount calculation for reference. If FMV is not provided, the tax deductible amount will be blank on the transaction, and can still be edited manually.
- Below is an example of an Item for sale with the amount set as $300.
- The item has a Fair Market Value of $200.
- When a guest purchases this item, they are sent a confirmation of this purchase with the $300 amount they paid and also the estimated Tax deductible amount of $100.
- This amount can be overridden on the purchase transaction by clicking on Giving->Transactions-> Find the transaction and open the details and change the Tax deductible Amount section as shown below.
