How Badge Awards Are Issued in Peer-to-Peer Campaigns
Awards and badges play an important role in motivating participants in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising campaigns. They recognize progress, encourage participation, and help create a fun, engaging experience for everyone involved.
This article explains how awards are issued and what admins and participants can expect.
Where participants see their awards
Participants can view their earned badges directly in their activity dashboard on their fundraising page.
Badges typically appear as:
-
Visual icons or trophies
-
A badge name that reflects the achievement (for example, Sponsored or 10 Miles Logged)
This immediate visual feedback helps participants see their progress and stay motivated throughout the event.
How awards are earned
Awards are issued automatically when participants meet the criteria defined for a badge. Common examples include:
-
Logging their first activity
-
Reaching a distance or time milestone
-
Being active on multiple days
-
Receiving pledges or sponsors
-
Completing the event
Participants do not need to take any extra steps beyond logging activity or engaging with their supporters.
When awards are issued
Depending on how the event is set up, awards may be issued:
-
In real time, as soon as a participant meets the requirements
-
At the end of the event, when activities are finalized
Once issued, badges usually remain visible even if activity entries are edited later.
What admins should know
From the admin side:
-
Badge criteria are managed through Badges & Rules in the Peer-to-Peer settings
-
Awards are generated automatically based on those rules
-
Activity logs, pledges, and event completion all contribute to badge eligibility
Admins can adjust badge rules during a campaign, but changes typically apply only to future awards, not ones already earned.
Why awards may not appear immediately
If a participant doesn’t see an expected badge right away:
-
Activity logs may still be updating
-
The event may not yet be finalized
-
The badge may require a specific type of activity or milestone
Refreshing the page or logging additional activity often resolves this.
Summary
-
Awards are issued automatically when participants meet badge criteria
-
Participants see badges directly on their fundraising dashboard
-
Badges help recognize effort, celebrate progress, and boost engagement
-
Once earned, badges are usually permanent
A clear and consistent badge system helps keep participants motivated and makes your Peer-to-Peer campaign more rewarding for everyone.
