How do I pre-authorize guests so I can charge them at the event?

Preauthorizing a credit card for your guests can be very advantageous and increase your fundraising revenue as it will make their donations or purchases during your event more effortless for everyone.

There are multiple ways to approach this in the system:

1) Include preauthorization option during check out
An efficient way of collecting preauthorizations for your event is to provide this option on your event checkout page. With this approach, when a guest purchases a ticket to your event, they would be presented with the option to pre-authorize their payment information anytime before or during the event. In order to turn on this option for your guests, you will need to select this option for your event (go to Edit your event, click the Guest Experience Options tab, and turn on the Preauthorize option). With this option set, when a ticket purchase is complete, the confirmation page will display a credit card icon next to each guest in the purchased tickets list. By clicking this icon, the guest can provide their payment details and authorize the organizer to charge their card later.

2) Preauthorize on guest arrival
On the Manage Attendees page for your event, next to every attendee/guest row, you will see an "Authorize" button. If this button is enabled, you can click it and choose Add a Card to capture the preauthorization payment information from the guest at any time.  Note: if the Authorize button is grayed out and disabled, you will need to make sure the guest is added as a contact first in order to enable the Authorize button. You can add the guest as a contact record by clicking the + button next to the guest name.

Please refer to the   How can I charge a pre-authorized card?  topic for details on how to charge this card later on.
