SMS Messages: Credits

The messaging platform includes two types of SMS text messages: automatic transactional messages that are included with basic messaging and custom campaigns that require SMS credits on your account.

Automatic Messages (Included — No Credits Required)

These messages are triggered automatically by the system in response to specific actions. They do not consume SMS credits from your account.

Ticket Purchase Confirmation

When a guest purchases a ticket and your campaign is configured to send a text confirmation, they will automatically receive a personalized SMS with their My Event link. You can customize this message in your campaign's communication settings.

Check-In Acknowledgment

When a guest is checked in at your event, an SMS can be sent automatically with their event details, including paddle number and table assignment if applicable. This message is also customizable in your campaign settings.

Waitlist Confirmation

When a guest joins a waitlist for a sold-out ticket, they receive an automatic text confirming they are on the waitlist and will be notified when a spot opens up.

Auction Bid Notifications

All bid-related text messages are automatic and do not use credits:

  • Winning bid confirmation — Sent to a bidder confirming their bid was placed successfully.
  • Outbid alert — Sent to a bidder when someone places a higher bid on an item they were winning.
  • Auto-bid placed — Sent when the system places a bid on a bidder's behalf through the auto-bid (max bid) feature.
  • Auction item awarded — Sent to the winning bidder after an item is awarded, including item details, winning amount, and payment instructions if self-checkout is enabled.
  • Non-winning bidder notification — Sent after an item is awarded to let non-winning bidders know the outcome, with an optional link to donate their bid amount.

Custom SMS Campaigns (Requires SMS Credits)

These are messages you compose and send manually to a targeted audience. Each message sent consumes one SMS credit from your account.

Bulk SMS Campaigns

Any custom message you create and send to a group of contacts through the SMS campaign tool. This includes messages targeted by:

  • Purchase type or status
  • Guest status or tags
  • Bidder status
  • Cart status
  • Table or team assignment

Scheduled SMS Messages

Custom messages you compose and schedule to be sent at a future date and time.


SMS Credit Plans

To send custom SMS campaigns, your organization needs an active SMS plan:

  • SMS Credits — Pre-purchased credit packages (available in blocks of 1,000 / 5,000 / 7,500 / 10,000 / 25,000). Credits are deducted as messages are sent. When your balance runs low, your subscription will auto-renew to keep your campaigns running.

 


Frequently Asked Questions

Do event reminder texts use credits?
Event reminders are sent via email only, not SMS. They do not use SMS credits.

Do I need credits to send bid notifications during my auction?
No. All auction-related bid alerts, outbid notifications, and winner notifications are automatic and included at no extra cost.

What happens if I run out of SMS credits during a campaign?
Your SMS credit subscription will attempt to auto-renew. If renewal is not possible, the remaining messages in your campaign will not be sent until credits are added to your account.

Can I send a guest link to someone manually?
Yes. You can resend a guest's My Event link from the participant management screen. This is a transactional send and does not consume credits.
