Troubleshooting the Stripe M2 Card Reader

If you’re having trouble connecting or using the Stripe M2 card reader, follow the steps below to make sure your app and reader settings are configured correctly.

1. Update the BetterUnite app

Before troubleshooting, confirm that you’re using the latest version of the BetterUnite app.

  • Open the App Store
  • Search for BetterUnite
  • Tap Update if a newer version is available

Using the latest app version helps ensure compatibility with the Stripe M2 reader.

2. Set your default reader to Stripe Reader

After logging into the app, make sure the correct card reader is selected in your settings.

  • Tap the gear icon to open Settings
  • Find Default Reader
  • Change it to Stripe Reader

This ensures the app is set up to look for and connect to the Stripe M2 reader.

3. Test the reader connection from an event

Once your settings are updated, test the connection directly in an event.

  • Open your event in the BetterUnite app
  • Select a guest — using yourself is recommended for testing
  • Tap Authorize Card
  • Tap Connect to a Bluetooth Reader

From there, follow the prompts to pair and connect your Stripe M2 reader.
