Common LiveStream Issues
When choosing the livestream option for your event, you may run into a few issues and here are some explained below. There could many reasons we cannot list, based on your live-stream software and settings in your live-stream platform, we are simply listing some of the common ones below. It is always advisable that you do a dry-run of your event days before the live-event to ensure you've worked out the kinks and the necessary settings in your live-stream platform of choice early on.
Your live stream is live in YouTube, but not available in your guest page
- YouTube Live may take a few minutes to make the stream available to embedded views. This is an internal YouTube lag we cannot control, so be sure to go live in YouTube at least 15 minutes before your live event, and validate that it's available in your guest page. Use the preview mode, Test/Preview Live Stream Before Your Event, and refresh in a few minutes, and when you see the video, then go live for your guests at the time of your choice.
You go live and see the following error within your YouTube video in the guest page
- “Playback on other websites has been disabled by the video owner”
- This is a setting in your YouTube to control whether the video can be played elsewhere outside of YouTube.com. To remedy this, go to your settings in YouTube, advanced, and find the option for “embed” and make sure its allowing embedding.
Your video is not viewable by anyone else except you/admin
- Your video may be set to private mode, which means only people logged into your account can view it or any else who is specifically invited. Find the “Visibility” option on your video and change it to Public so that your guests can view the video on their guest page in BetterUnite.
