Milestones and deadlines
A milestone is a dated item on a grant: an application step, a reporting deadline, an expected payment. Milestones are how Grant Center keeps track of everything a grant requires beyond its own application dates.

Adding a milestone
- Open the grant and find the Milestones card.
- Click Add Milestone.
- Give it a title, a date, and an expected amount if money is involved.
- Save.
A milestone is Open until you close it. Open milestones with a date appear on the Agenda and count toward the overdue figures on your dashboard; closed ones drop out.
The Agenda
The Agenda on the Grant Center's Schedule & Deadlines tab collects every dated obligation across every grant: application deadlines, expected decisions, expected funds and milestones together. It covers anything overdue plus the next 90 days. An item needs a date to appear; one with no date is not on the Agenda and is never reminded about, so give your obligations dates.
- Range: choose This Week, This Month or Next 90 Days. Overdue items always stay in view, whatever the range, because they need attention regardless.
- View: Calendar lays the items out in month columns; List shows them as one dated list.
- Opening an item: click any item to open its grant in a new tab, on that item. A schedule item is highlighted on the grant's Schedule & Work tab, so you land on the thing that needs attention, and the Agenda stays open where you left it.
Giving a milestone a type
A milestone can be given a type, which turns it from a generic dated item into something the system understands:
Typing a milestone does not move, copy or re-create it. The same record gains extra detail, so anything already referencing it (an export, a report, a saved view) stays valid.
Nothing is typed automatically. A milestone does not become a payment just because it carries an amount, because that would silently change what your Expected Income figures count.
