Programs

Programs are the internal initiatives your grants pay for — after-school tutoring, the food pantry, a research line. Tag each grant with the program it supports and you can report funding by program, and see at a glance which initiatives are covered and which are not.

Set them up under Grant Center → Settings → Programs.

Programs are not fundraising campaigns

This is the distinction people most often get wrong, and the two live side by side on a grant.

A grant can belong to several programs — a general operating grant often funds three or four — and can also be associated with one or more campaigns, one of which is its primary campaign.

Setting up a program

1. Go to Grant Center → Settings → Programs.
2. Click Add program.
3. Give it a name, an optional description, and an optional department.
4. Save.

Programs you no longer run can be made inactive. They stay attached to the historical grants that funded them and stop being offered on new ones.

Assigning a grant to a program

Open the grant, find the Programs & dates editor, and select the programs it funds. The same editor holds the grant period and the renewal date.
