Recurring requirements
Most awards demand the same report several times — quarterly financials, an annual narrative. Set the obligation up once and Grant Center creates each occurrence for you.

Setting one up
- Add a requirement as usual, with the date of the first occurrence.
- Set Repeats to Monthly, Quarterly, Semiannual or Annual.
- Set an end date — normally the end of the award period. This is required, so a repeating requirement can never generate items indefinitely.
- Save.
How occurrences appear
Occurrences are created roughly four months ahead rather than all at once, so a five-year quarterly obligation does not put twenty rows on the schedule the day you set it up. Each new occurrence appears on the schedule well before anybody needs to be reminded about it.
You will see the first occurrence — the one you entered — immediately, and the next few appear shortly after.
What each occurrence inherits
An occurrence copies the title, description, owner and requirement type from the one you set up. Where the original covered a period, the length of that period is preserved rather than its dates: a quarterly report covering one month still covers one month in October.
Occurrences start at Not started, and none of them repeats in turn — only the item you configured is a generator, so a generated occurrence can never start producing occurrences of its own.
Changing or stopping a recurrence
Edit the original requirement to change the pattern or bring the end date forward. Occurrences already created stay where they are — they may have work against them — so delete any you no longer need individually.
