Simplified Pledge Payment

This article explains the redesigned pledge payment experience for donors paying a pledge via a payment link.

When an admin sends a payment link for a pledge, the guest’s payment page now shows only the specific pledge being paid — not all other items and offers available in the campaign. This focused experience makes it clear what the guest is paying for and reduces confusion during checkout.

How It Works

  • An admin sends a payment link for a specific pledge (from the Pledges section or via the Message Pledgers tool).
  • The guest receives an email with a unique payment link.
  • Clicking the link takes the guest to a streamlined checkout page showing only their pledge amount and item.
  • The guest enters payment information and completes checkout.

Note: The payment link is a public URL — anyone with the link can pay the pledge. This is intentional so that someone other than the original pledger can make the payment if needed. The payer’s information is captured separately from the original pledger’s record.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't the payment page show other items from the event?

By design, the simplified payment page shows only the pledge being paid. This prevents guests from being distracted by other offers and makes the payment process straightforward.

Who is recorded as the payer if someone other than the pledger pays?

The person who completes checkout on the payment link is recorded as the payer. The original pledger’s record remains linked to the pledge itself.

Can the guest change the pledge amount on the payment page?

Not if it is for an activity pledge. The payment page shows the pledged amount. If the amount needs to change, an admin should update the pledge first, then send a new payment link.

If it is for a pledged amount for purchase of a sponsorship or large donation and multiple people are paying for the same pledge then the system does allow for the payer to pay less than the total pledged amount. e.g. a sponsorship for $10,000 could be paid by 2 different payers and they could each pay $5,000 by typing in the desired amount.
