WePay Transition FAQs

JP Morgan Chase is discontinuing WePay as a payment processor, and WePay will no longer process payments after May 1, 2024. If you are using WePay as your payment processor, you must transition your WePay account to another payment processor before May 1, 2024.

What do I have to do right now?

You do not have to do anything right now.  We've sent you a notification to just let you know and give you ample time to switch out of WePay by May 2024, so you have until then to complete your transition.

Will my WePay account accept payments and work with my BetterUnite account until May 1, 2024?

YES. Your WePay account will continue to accept payments and support your BetterUnite campaigns and events until May 1, 2024.

If I have an event or silent auction prior to May 1, 2024, that is tied to WePay through BetterUnite, do I need to do anything?

NO. Your event and all preauthorized credit cards will be accepted and continue to transact as usual until May 1, 2024.

Can I add a new processor(s) and still use them alongside my existing WePay account until I fully transition out of WePay?

YES. You can mix and match any processors. Just know that in May 2024, WePay will no longer process payments.

We have an ongoing campaign that will go past May, 2024, can we switch our processor while this campaign is still active?

YES. You can switch your processor at anytime and any future payments will simply start processing with the new processor.

If I have recurring payments or memberships tied to my WePay account, do I need to do anything to transition those?

YES, eventually. Nothing to do at the moment, we will be in touch and you will see a notification on your account when the cards are ready to be transferred. You will need to set up a Stripe Express connection in the Settings > Online Funding section of your BetterUnite account, here are details on how to do that. Our team will work with WePay and Stripe to transfer the recurring payments from WePay to your Stripe account.
