Deadline reminders

Grant Center emails and notifies people about grant deadlines that are coming up or have passed, so an obligation does not sit overdue on a dashboard nobody opened.

What gets a reminder

Two things:

The grant's own application dates — but only the one that matters at the grant's current stage. A grant in draft, research or on hold is reminded about its LOI, proposal and application dates. A submitted grant is reminded about its decision date. An awarded grant is reminded about its expected funding date, and only while it has not yet received the full awarded amount.
Every open milestone with a date — whether or not it has been typed. Typing is optional and supported indefinitely, so reminders never depend on you having done a setup step.

Where a milestone has been typed, the extra information improves the message without being required: a requirement's type appears in the wording, a payment says it is a payment.

When they are sent

Upcoming — an obligation coming due within the next 7 days.
Past due — an obligation whose date has passed.

Deadlines further out than seven days are not yet reminders. Items with no date are never reminded about, which is one reason the deadline agenda shows undated items rather than hiding them.

"Today" is resolved in your organization's timezone, so a deadline does not go past due early or late for a team in a different region.

Who receives them

The schedule item's own owner, if it has one. Otherwise the grant's owner. This is why setting an owner on a quarterly report matters — it routes the reminder to the person who has to write it rather than to whoever runs the grant.

How they arrive

Both as an in-app notification and as an email. You will not be reminded twice about the same obligation on the same date — but if you move a deadline, a fresh reminder is correctly issued for the new date rather than being suppressed as a duplicate.
